7 Easy Rules for a healthy breakfast

<em style="font-size:13px;">Hala Barghout</em>

To prove to you just how simple it is to have a healthy breakfast; we teamed up with Hala Barghout, Dietitian to share with you the 7 golden rules for a healthy breakfast.'
Rule 1: Don’t skip your breakfast
Health studies have demonstrated that people who skip their breakfast in the morning are more likely to be fatter than those who tend to eat their breakfast on a daily basis. Also, according to research, parents who do not develop a breakfast-eating habit in their children put them at a higher risk of obesity in the future.
Rule 2: Chew Your Meals
If you rush your meals, your digestion suffers. Eat slowly for better digestion and hydration; easier weight loss or maintenance, and a greater satisfaction with your meals.
Rule 3: Don’t start your day with sugary foods
Don’t have sugary foods for breakfast because they leave you hungry soon after your breakfast and you’ll crave more refined carbs. Avoid all types of pastry, jams and jellies for breakfast.
Rule 4: Make room for Proteins
If you want to keep satisfied all morning long you need to make protein a big part of your breakfast meal. Proteins are more satiating than carbohydrates and fats. Eggs, yoghurt or cottage cheese are excellent ideas for a morning meal.

Rule 5: Whole grain breakfast
I highly recommend to have whole grain breakfast in the morning. A warm bowl of Nestlé FITNESS® topped with berries and crunchy hazelnuts or a quick omelet filled with quinoa. Whole grains contain a lot of fiber and they help digestion, lower cholesterol and control weight.
Rule 6: Have fruits
Fiber in your breakfast meal makes you full for longer period of time. Add berries, kiwis and other fruits to your breakfast. Have an oatmeal with chopped fresh fruit and some seeds.
Rule 7: Enjoy your meal
Rule #7 goes with Rule #1. Do not force yourself into eating something you do not particularly enjoy because this will encourage you to skip breakfast.
